The South Kohala district lies in the northwest sector of the Island of Hawaiʻi. Neighboring districts North Kohala to the North; Hāmākua to the east; and North Kona to the south. The South Kohala CDP encompasses the towns of Kawaihae, Puakō, Waikoloa, and Waimea.
The County of Hawaiʻi's South Kohala Community Development Plan is intended to be the forum for translating South Kohala's community input into Policies and Action Plans that shape the future land use of the district and translate broad General Plan statements into specific actions.
The South Kohala CDP is also available for viewing at either Planning Department office or at your local library!
Meetings
Action Committees meetings are supported by Long Range Planning staff. Interested community members are encouraged to join any of our meetings, engage, and provide input.
Requesting Agenda Items for Action Committee Meetings
Members of the public may request that a topic be added to a future Community Development Plan Action Committee meeting agenda. To make a request, please email CDP@hawaiicounty.gov or contact the Action Committee Chair or Vice-Chair. Planning Department staff will coordinate with the Chair and Vice-Chair in advance of each regularly scheduled meeting to review and confirm the agenda.
